Tom's Metal Specialists, Inc. (also referred to as "TMS"), based in San Francisco, is a metal subcontractor providing steel and stainless steel fabrication and erection services to Northern California.  We are chiefly focused on structural steel, but also engage in architectural, and ornamental ironworks such as metal stairs, guard and handrails.


TMS projects primarily consist of Public and Commercial Projects.  Public projects comprise of schools, universities, dams, bridges, libraries, hospitals, museums, stadiums, transportation, affordable housing, water treatment facilities, sewage treatment facilities, postal service, and federal projects.  Commercial projects comprise of hotels, office buildings, big box stores, warehouses, grocery stores, restaurants, and retail.  Private projects include condominiums, homes, and apartment buildings.

TMS operates out of two facilities located in San Francisco: a 7,200 sq. ft. structural steel facility (with overhead crane) at 1416 Wallace Ave. and an additional 5,000 sq. ft. facility for architectural/ornamental work. 

TMS targets subcontract sizes ranging from $150,000 to $1.8m and a portfolio of 20 to 30 projects per year.  TMS is certified by the San Francisco Human Rights Commission as a Minority Business Enterprise (MBE) and a Small Business Enterprise (SBE).  Furthermore, TMS is a signatory contractor with the International Organization of Bridge, Structural, Ornamental, and Reinforcing Ironworkers (IOBSOR) and is in full compliance with all Union labor requirements.
