Nutrition and Education International (NEI) is an international NGO based in Pasadena, California


To reduce/defeat malnutrition, especially through agricultural development for nutrition among women and children in impoverished areas. Since 2003 NEI has been developing a sustainable soy industry in Afghanistan in collaboration and partnership with many Afghan ministries and international food security organizations.


Qualifications preferred:

Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant field

4+ years related experience in program or project management in a non-profit organization or for-profit corporation

Desire to pursue a career in international development preferred


Skills required:

Microsoft Office proficiency (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)

Strong oral/written communication ability; many communications are with individuals whose first language is not English.

Proposal and technical report writing

Proven project/project management experience: planning, budgeting, implementation, monitor & evaluation

Ability to pay attention to detail is required

Proven problem solving skills and sound judgment

Ability to work well with both internal and external stakeholders

Demonstrate genuine commitment towards helping others

Willingness to take direction, flexible, high ethical standards


Job Responsibilities:

Assist Senior Program Manager with:

Self-sustainable soy industry development program: 1) Planning, budgeting, and program implementation, 2) Approving bimonthly activities and budgets, 3) Monitor and evaluate programs, 4) Daily communications with Afghan staff to generate reports for managers and stakeholders

Technical information file management: 1) Information on global hunger, poverty, and food insecurity, especially among Afghan women and children, 2) Information gathering on health and nutrition status of Afghan women and children, 3) Soybean value chain development.


Other job duties include but are not limited to the following: 

1) Media file management - organize pictures and video clips to make media files for proposal, reports and website,

 2) Assist in the preparation and/or presentation of press releases and media campaigns, 

3) Perform business writing and editing tasks, 

4) Travel domestically and internationally as needed
