Air Products and Chemicals, Inc. (NYSE:APD), a Fortune 500 manufacturer of industrial gases and chemicals, has an immediate opening for a Market Manager at its Tempe, AZ facility.
This position is based in Tempe, AZ and will work closely with our global teams in Korea, Taiwan and North America. The ability to network with a diverse group of people is needed because members of this team will be located in Asia, North America and Europe. Strong interpersonal, organization and technical skills are required to address this challenging position.
The position requires the ability to effectively work across a matrix of functional groups within the company including supply chain, decision support, EH&S, technology, legal, asset management, operation, and engineering. The position also requires the ability to summarize support project management activities and drive continued project focus, identify global market trends and to maximize the benefit of our ongoing work with TSMC. The role will need to work closely with Sales, other Marketing managers and asset management to align and determine commercial priorities.
The Market Manager will be responsible for the following:
A deep understanding of the commercialized product attributes, profitability, benefits to the customer and application.
An understanding of the competitive landscape (i.e., new product introductions, strategic alliances, intellectual property, etc.) that helps to further define our product differentiation relative to other products in the market
Identifying new opportunities through close collaborations with our global sales, customer applications and technology teams. Maintaining and growing these relationships are an essential duty of this position.
Developing the commercialized product development roadmaps for formulated slurry products
Analytical dimensioning of the product opportunities for value and success probability.
Effective use of the portfolio management system to monitor and document project performance vs. milestones. Assure all of the requirements for a commercialized product are met prior to launch.
Assure there is a defensible product Intellectual Asset Management strategy in place for all commercialized products and an understanding of the competitive landscape by region and application
A close and collaborative relationship with R&D teams to assure the appropriate products are screened for incoming applications requests
Developing product pricing strategies and maintaining pricing discipline to assure profitable growth for the commercialized products
Work closely and influence Asset Managers to increase productivity of manufacturing assets, and to ensure investments match the capacity and capability needs forecasted for each product.
Develop strong analytically derived product plans that are based on customer inputs, market trends, as well as forecasts by industry analysts
Develop marketing and communication plans for product offerings. This should include presentation materials, managing our presence at conferences and use of web-based communications
Training and support for the customer applications specialists on new products and their applications
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
This position is accountable for the following end results:
Coordinate and drive successful projects with key semiconductor customers for greater adoption of slurry commercialized products
Alignment between new product pipeline and applications opportunities that may connect with existing R&D activities
Work closely with R&D teams and market managers to identify emerging market trends that may align opportunities for new product development
Management of slurry products within the assigned market segments to ensure accurate forecasts and profitability that meets or exceeds the objectives for the business.
Advanced degree (MS or Ph.D) in material science or chemistry or allied fields
Minimum of 10 years experience in semiconductor industry
Experience in semiconductor or display technologies is required
Strong team work spirit, interpersonal and communication skills, especially across multi-cultures
Bi-lingual capability in both Mandarin Chinese and English is a requirement
Effective speaking and written communication skills
Proven track record for project management is a plus
Hands-on experience in technical marketing, commercial negotiations, business planning, strategy development and execution is a plus.
Ability to multi-task across a wide variety of issues
