Under the supervision of the UCSF Women’s Health Resource Center Manager, the Health Educator is responsible for teaching group health education classes offered through the Women’s Health Resource Center. Classes use curricula designed or approved by the Women’s Health Resource Center staff in consultation with UCSF Women’s Health providers. Participants are women from the local community, patients at UCSF Medical Center and their partners.

The Health Educator will also be responsible for working with UCSF Women’s Health Resource Center staff to continually re-assess and evaluate class curricula with the overall goal of enhancing the participant’s ability to act as an informed consumer of health care.

The Health Educator is an integral part of the direct patient education and community outreach efforts of the Resource Center. It is the goal of the WHRC to increase women’s access to information about all aspects of their health; provide excellence in the quality and variety of educational materials available for women and their families; encourage and create participatory, women-sensitive health education programming; and offer women a centralized resource for community and health care provider referrals specific to their needs. Health educators are non-clinical professionals that do not offer any medical advice, diagnose medical conditions or prescribe any medications or treatments of any kind. Health educators will provide non-biased health information, support, encouragement, guidance, referrals and education to families.

As a patient-focused organization, UCSF Medical Center exists to enhance the health and well-being of people through patient care, research and education. Success in this mission requires a culture of collaboration, excellence, leadership, and respect. UCSF Medical Center seeks faculty and staff that are committed to the values of professionalism, respect, integrity, diversity, and excellence that are integral to our mission. Under the Direction of the Operations Manager, and guided by the policies and procedures of Ambulatory Services, the Administrative Assistant is responsible for providing professional, courteous, efficient, and services for patients seeking care at UCSF Women’s Health.

The flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations is required.
