Under the supervision of the UCSF Women’s Health Resource Center Manager, the Health Educator is responsible for teaching group health education classes offered through the Women’s Health Resource Center. Classes use curricula designed or approved by the Women’s Health Resource Center staff in consultation with UCSF Women’s Health providers. Participants are women from the local community, patients at UCSF Medical Center and their partners.
The Health Educator will also be responsible for working with UCSF Women’s Health Resource Center staff to continually re-assess and evaluate class curricula with the overall goal of enhancing the participant’s ability to act as an informed consumer of health care.
The Health Educator is an integral part of the direct patient education and community outreach efforts of the Resource Center. It is the goal of the WHRC to increase women’s access to information about all aspects of their health; provide excellence in the quality and variety of educational materials available for women and their families; encourage and create participatory, women-sensitive health education programming; and offer women a centralized resource for community and health care provider referrals specific to their needs. Health educators are non-clinical professionals that do not offer any medical advice, diagnose medical conditions or prescribe any medications or treatments of any kind. Health educators will provide non-biased health information, support, encouragement, guidance, referrals and education to families.

Minimum of one year experience teaching health education in group settings
